Iowa Non-Resident Application Process
All non resident deer tags are drawn with a progressive point system ( the hunter with the most accumulated points gets first chance a their choice of season and possible zone to hunt)
In most cases it takes between 1-3 years to draw an archery tag, which may vary from year to year.
The application process is listed on the Iowa DNR website (attach a Link)
You may buy a point during the application period or apply for the tag. If you don’t draw a tag, you will be awarded a preference point towards your next years tag.
The cost for an Iowa non resident whitetail tag, hunting license, and habitat fee is $551.00 which includes 1 any sex tag and 1 doe only tag.
The cost for a preference point and fees is $50.00.
