Going up my entire life in South West Iowa in a large, values driven, hunting family, I began my passion for chasing whitetails and harvesting my first buck at the age of 13 with a compound bow. Through the years I joined in on the annual family shotgun season deer drives and participated in the archery seasons also. In my mid 20’s I put down the slug gun and opted to give black powder a try and that is where I found my best calling for one on one whitetail hunting along with continuing my archery passion.

In 2004 through a introduction of a mutual friend I meet a gentlemen by the name of Ken Haas and we both had common ground of chasing big Iowa whitetails, so we began trying to film our hunts together with no clue where it would lead. Somewhere around late winter of 2006, through email contacts and being in the right place at the right time Ken and I landed ourselves a spot on a new up and coming TV show called Whitetail Freaks, produced by Lee & Tiffany Lakoski and Don & Kandy Kisky. We hit the ground running with that opportunity and won best/ most improved team our first year into their program. I filmed with the team for a little over 3 years and in that time learned a lot of inside information on scouting, growing, keeping, and harvesting quality whitetail deer from Don Kisky and Lee Lakoski.

In 2009 after taking a break from the filming scene I caught up with long time area native Rocky Pilling of Magnum Force Outfitters and he just happened to be in-between guides at the time, and I was looking to get back involved in the hunting industry but not at the filming level. We worked out a deal and I stepped in to try my hand a guiding hunts, being on a few guided hunts with Whitetail Freaks, I knew there were some things that I didn’t care for as a client and I set out to do my best job possible to provide a quality hunt and experience for my clients here in the great state of Iowa.

In the spring of 2011 we brought on board good friend and absolute all around outdoors fanatic Jack Gangwish to assist in guiding and season prepping duties. Jack brings a lot of years of all around hunting/ fishing experience along with an attention to detail that is second to none to provide clients with a top notch experience here at Magnum Force Outfitters.

Together with the combined hunting experience of Rocky, Jack, and myself along with a very large tracks of private hunting ground and access to stat of the art farming equipment, Magnum Force Outfitters can provide hunting memories that will last a lifetime.

Hunt Package Info

Our whitetail hunts are 6 day hunts, except for shotgun 1, which only last 5 days.
All hunts give the hunter a chance to harvest 1 buck, and 1 doe on your Iowa tag.
All hunts include lodging and home cooked meals in a cabin style atmosphere.
All full guided hunts include transportation to and from the stands if needed.
All hunts will include use of tower blinds, ground blinds, and tree stands, all placed before the season. Please note that we are open minded to making adjustments in our stand locations to help with the success of the hunter if deemed necessary by one of our guides.
Each hunter needs to bring their own hunting gear and clothing for the applicable season. We encourage all of our hunters to practice scent eliminating hunting, ask that hunters change into their hunting gear in the field or at a designated scent safe place at camp. Wearing your hunting gear casually around camp and during meals will not be accepted.
We will provide archery and gun ranges to check your equipment before the hunt.
The hunter is responsible for the cost of the application process and license fees.
The Magnum Force Team will gladly assist the hunter in the application process to acquire the proper tags.
Both of our camps are located within 1 hour from a major airport.
We will provide transportation to and from the airport if necessary.
Magnum Force Outfitters can offer professional local taxidermy services along with all processing and care of your trophy as needed. And arrange for your animal to be shipped to your home or favorite taxidermist.

Upland Hunting

All of our guided/ semi-guided upland hunts are 100% fair chase WILD birds on some of our prime properties featuring large CRP fields, buffer strip creek and river lines, and miles of grassy terraces.

Iowa Non Resident Application Process

All non resident deer tags are drawn with a progressive point system ( the hunter with the most accumulated points gets first chance a their choice of season and possible zone to hunt)

In most cases it takes between 1-3 years to draw an archery tag, which may vary from year to year.

The application process is listed on the Iowa DNR website (attach a Link)
You may buy a point during the application period or apply for the tag. If you don’t draw a tag, you will be awarded a preference point towards your next years tag.

The cost for an Iowa non resident whitetail tag, hunting license, and habitat fee is $551.00 which includes 1 any sex tag and 1 doe only tag.

The cost for a preference point and fees is $50.00.
